I decided to pop into Norwich the other day for an impromptu morning of charity shop browsing and I actually came away with some pretty good finds. I’ve no doubt spoken before of my love for mooching and charity shops – I think the thrill comes from never knowing what you’re going to find. (The same thrill that comes from an early Sunday morning car boot sale!)
So what did I find? I will call this my Miss Marple haul as it’s a little selection of florals, knit cardigans and pretty blouses. I will speak another time perhaps of my utter love for Agatha Christie’s famous sleuth and her tales of detection and murder mystery.
I’m always on the look out for a nice blouse as I wear them so often and I think they’re a lovely statement piece to have in your wardrobe. The first is a pretty cotton blouse, originally from M&S, with a cute peter-pan collar and buttons down the back. Finds like this are what makes it such a joy to shop in charity shops! The second has small black polka dots with pearl buttons – it also has a pretty peplum bottom.
I love rummaging for scarves in charity shops as they have such a wide selection – I love the print of this one! This was only £2 but could easily be ten times that price in your local high-street store! Scarves are the perfect accessory when you want to wear a simple jumper and jeans but want to brighten up your outfit a little.
I know buying Primark clothes in a charity shop may seem a little odd but I couldn’t resist this cornflower blue cardigan. It’s so soft and I love the subtle scallop edging and detailing.
THIS DRESS. I know I may seem 50 years too young to wear it but it is so pretty. I’ve mentioned before that I am a florals girl at heart, especially the pretty, muted florals from yesteryears! For £3 I couldn’t resist it – I may take it up just a little but paired with a waist belt and cropped jumper, I’m so looking forward to wearing this when the weather warms up!
