Coveting the Shearling Coat

November 2, 2016

While the weather is still relatively warm, it’s the perfect opportunity to layer and wear slightly lighter coats. I bought this faux shearling coat from H&M last year in the sale and it’s honestly one of my best purchases. It’s the perfect layering piece and as most of my wardrobe and daily outfits consist around pastel shades with lots of cream, it fits in pretty seamlessly. It’s a pretty good nod to the popular teddy-bear coat trend too.

I’ve paired it here with a new purchase from Topshop – a simple long-sleeved striped tee – and my favourite jeans of the moment (I honestly haven’t taken these off – definitely need to look for a similar pair in black!) With my leopard print flats (another favourite wardrobe staple this season) and a vintage cardi, this is a favourite outfit of mine at the moment.

Shearling has come back around again this season, with an array of coats and jackets available on the high-street, but I’m intent on trying to find a vintage one. Perhaps this will be my goal for the new season (that a new faux fur coat perhaps – I’ve had mine for a few years now and while I love it, I feel like I need a new one for my collection!)

In one of my last videos, I showed my inspiration for the new season (which mainly consisted of Pinterest!) and a few autumnal purchases. I find this works so well – having a list of items that you’re looking to add to your wardrobe – as it means you’re less tempted to impulse buy or purchase one or two pieces you don’t necessarily need. Although I love the idea of a Capsule Wardrobe, I would never be able to implement it. I think it’s good to be careful and think about what you have in your wardrobe and to have regular clear-outs, but I just love fashion and styling too much to restrict myself!

So, no doubt, you’ll be seeing this shearling jacket a little more in the coming months – I’ve got lots of outfit ideas to pair it with. P.S. I may have just bought a lovely tan shearling/teddy bear coat, so I’m sure that’ll appear soon and help to mix it up a little!
