I find a new year to be such an exciting time. There’s something so wonderfully expectant yet wistful about a new year starting, the promise it holds and saying goodbye. 2015 was a good year – with new loves, ventures, travels, friends and countless dog walks with my beautiful girl, Hallie.
However, as the New Year dawned, I began to think seriously about resolutions and what I wanted to achieve. I must admit – I am a bit of a dreamer and a hopeless romantic at times – but then again, all the best people are, so this year I wanted to lay out achievable, enjoyable ‘goals.’
Although an undoubtedly popular choice, I have decided that I want to practice Yoga. I don’t mean once or twice and by February my mat has already begun to gather dust, but really practice it. I have heard only positive reviews from friends and family and I genuinely am excited to start, get much better and ~ I hope(!) ~ reap the benefits. Coupled with this decision, comes the healthy eating. Now I have a pretty healthy diet anyway, I’m not that keen on fast food and can’t say i’m guilty of a particularly sweet tooth but after following Deliciously Ella for the last year, I really am keen to give it more of a go and delve deeper into what is good for me. Although my diet is limited anyway due to being a Coeliac, I feel as though I want to focus much more on foods that are good for me and benefit my lifestyle. I’ll keep you updated!
Lastly, I have vowed to say yes more – to encounters, travel and experiences. Although an easy thing to say, I feel as though this mindset and subsequent experiences – whether big or small – are so integral to how we live our lives, the outlook we have and of course, the outcome. I feel as though it’s so easy to be afraid of what could happen and all the what-ifs that saying no somehow seems the safer option but I saw a quote the other which simply said: ‘When was the last time you did something for the first time?’ which is such a positive mantra to follow.
