denoting a casual striped top, typically white with narrow horizontal blue stripes, of a type loosely associated with French or Breton sailors.
No doubt, I’ve spoken of my love of stripes before on this blog, (and florals, blush pink, jeans.. etc.,) but stripes, I really do have a lot of time for. Each Spring, I invest in a few more striped tops, because you can never have too many and more simply, because I wear them so bloody much. There’s something so classy about a Breton, you can just throw it on with jeans and immediately look pretty stylish.
An old Topshop classic and teamed with my trusty denim jacket and this is the perfect lazy Sunday outfit. And for once, I’m not wearing my beloved silver flats (I know, I know, I just can’t stop wearing them) but a pair of navy brogues I bought a few years ago in TK Maxx. I always seem to pair stripes with a chunky gold necklace too – this is a charity shop purchase. I always tend to look at the jewellery in charity shops and they have pearls and gold chains in abundance.
This is such a nice location – Norwich Quayside – it’s actually pretty reminiscent of Copenhagen with the mismatched houses and riverside spot.
